Inauguration of the Place Karl-Tremblay in L'Assomption, designed by Lemay. Landscape Architecture, Les Cowboys FringantsOur landscape architecture team was entrusted by the city with designing this meaningful public space, set to welcome the community in fall 2025.

Developed in close partnership with the city, the concept tackles a unique challenge: celebrating a major cultural legacy while honoring the artist’s well-known humility. Our team created a design that seamlessly blends art with functionality, featuring interactive elements such as a memorial wall where visitors can suspend their own ties alongside Karl’s. Throughout the landscape, thoughtful references to the band’s creative universe create an inclusive and immersive experience.

Warmly embraced by both the community and the artist’s family, this project showcases how landscape architecture can weave together culture, collective memory, and public space. Marie-Annick Lépine, member of Les Cowboys Fringants and Karl’s life partner, notes that the concept perfectly captures “who Karl was” and will create a space that brings the community together.
