Reweaving a transit corridor on an iconic Montreal centrepiece as a living tapestry.
The redevelopment of Remembrance Road and Camillien-Houde Way redefines how Montreal’s community experiences and explores Mount Royal. Freed from automobile traffic, Camillien-Houde becomes a dynamic terrain for walking, running and cycling—an iconic space reclaimed for active mobility and everyday connection to nature.
New dedicated pathways offer a safe environment for families and active users alike, while thoughtfully designed rest areas invite visitors to pause and take in sweeping views of the city. Benches and informal seating provide opportunities for all generations to gather, reflect, and enjoy this urban oasis at the heart of Montreal.
For drivers, the experience is enhanced through redesigned parking areas, where vegetation creates a more pleasant and welcoming arrival. Meanwhile, users of public and adapted transit benefit from new drop-off zones at key access points, including Beaver Lake and Smith House, improving connectivity to the mountain’s main attractions.
The integration of stormwater management systems enhances ecological resilience while supporting the site’s rich natural heritage. Landscape interventions highlight the mountain’s natural, historical and cultural character, enriching the visitor experience through layers of discovery and meaning.
Carefully selected plant species contribute to reforestation efforts and support biodiversity, all while preserving the iconic views that define the city’s identity. Whether for movement, rest, or exploration, the redeveloped corridor welcomes everyone with a safer, greener and more inspiring experience atop Montreal’s beloved mountain.
