A workspace as open and green as an urban park
Designed to reflect a creative software company’s flair and agile work force, while adapting to its employees’ needs, the concept for Nexus Innovations’ renewed office space reflects the form of an urban park. With its open and luminous qualities, this workplace is organized in a way that encourages movement, socializing and activity.
Located inside Le Nordelec, a former factory in Montreal’s Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood, this redesign creates a new atmosphere that showcases the heritage qualities of its host building, along with the finishing touches of architectural branding that contrasts the building’s character with the modernity of the company.
With a variety of collaborative and individual workstations, the environment is replete with biophilic elements and natural materials. The presence of wood floors, brick and high open ceilings are reminiscent of the industrial past of the premises. Several interconnected areas have been designed with conviviality in mind, including the Garden, where one can lounge and meet with colleagues for a game of ping-pong, and the Terrace, an elevated platform with communal picnic tables where employees can eat, drink and socialize.
The complementary spaces are anchored by the Cine Parc at their center, around which everything flows. This blue, mirrored chamber acts as the company’s ideas hub, where meetings, training sessions and brainstorming take place. At once part of the workspace but also its own immersive environment, the Cine Parc allows for privacy while holding center stage within the office.
