How do you design a civic building that almost disappears into its surroundings—yet becomes a vital gathering place?
Picture a civic building that almost feels hidden in its site, but still has the power to bring people together.
That’s what can be uncovered at the future Beaconsfield Multipurpose Cultural Centre, the next project featured in the latest episode of Sketching Stories with architect Eric Pelletier.
In this video, Eric walks us through a design rooted in sensitivity to place, community, and topography: Set between a riverside marina and a mature park, the design embraces the existing topography and pedestrian paths, using them as guides rather than obstacles. It gives the effect of almost fading into its locale.
🎥 Discover how the building’s near-invisibility became its defining strength in a competitive design process.
