The Hon. Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, on behalf of the Hon. Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Natural Resources, today announced a $1-million investment to support Lemay in its continuing project to convert the Phenix, a formerly abandoned industrial building that now houses our firm’s headquarters, into energy-efficient offices.
This project aims to achieve net-zero energy consumption at the Phenix through the integration of renewable energy technologies and storage, and advanced controls to optimize heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting systems.
We believe sustainable development is a catalyst to creating the workplaces of the future, enabling the rebirth of healthy living environments — in a socially and economically viable context.
Beyond reducing our own ecological footprint, we want the Phenix to be a unique example of industry best practices, a model to support our customers in the fight against climate change, and a means of promoting the health and well-being of our projects’ users. And by proposing sustainable and health-promoting measures, we also wish to demonstrate to which extent concrete solutions can result in significant savings.
In order to carry out this project, Lemay can count on the collaboration of four important partners: Mach Group, Martin Roy and Associates, Dupras Ledoux and Elema, without whom we would be unable to design, build and operate this superb net-positive project.
This investment by Natural Resources Canada enables us to put our values into practice in our own work environment for the benefit of our employees, users and the community.
