Architectural contests have long been celebrated as a way to push design boundaries, elevate creativity, and ensure quality. Yet in recent years, their methods have come under scrutiny. From the increasing emphasis on portfolios over anonymous submissions to the complexities of documentation and systemic challenges, many are asking: Are contests still the best approach to selecting transformative projects? The episode gets practical, exploring ways to streamline the process, create mentorship opportunities, and encourage collaborations between seasoned and younger firms.
