The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has invited us to partner on their Business Design Practicum for the second year in a row. In October of 2020, Lemay had previously taken part in Rotman’s Global Executive MBA program Innovation Challenge where students were invited to explore, “How might we put marginalized populations at the centre of our design processes, spaces and places?”.
This year’s Business Design Challenge will take part over a two-week intensive course from May 4th to May 13th – aimed at students who are interested in understanding design’s role in business innovation and applying design principles and methods as consultants to a real business challenge. Lemay will be presenting students with the following business challenge, “How might we put our partners and clients at the centre of our research services and systems, and collectively prepare for the future?”.
We have called on over eight external partners who represent futurists and innovators from across the design industry.
Two-week intensive summer practicum:
- May 4th: Andrew King will be presenting this year’s Business Design Challenge.
- May 6th: Students will then be presenting their Business Design brief to Andrew King, Grace Coulter Sherlock and Benjamin Leclair-Paquet.
- May 6th and 7th: Internal and external partners will be participating in field work interviews with students, followed by feedback loops on May 10th and 11th.
- May 13th: To conclude the two-week course, students will be presenting their Business Design project to Andrew King, Marie El-Nawar and Julia Pascutto.
