The Big O is about to be revived!

As the only venue in Quebec with a capacity exceeding 50,000 people, this iconic Montreal building has witnessed many memorable events since its opening in 1976.

Having reached the end of its lifespan, the roof will undergo a major overhaul that will allow the stadium to regain its status as a key driver for the city’s cultural, tourist, sporting, and economic verticals.

Led by the Groupe Construction Pomerleau-Canam consortium, the dismantling and construction work will be carried out in three phases, including the installation of a transparent glass ring that will let in plenty of natural light and offer an unobstructed view of Montreal’s skyline—a solution inspired by the vision of the stadium’s architect, Roger Taillibert.

Our team is incredibly proud to be a part of a technically complex project of this caliber, bringing together the cutting-edge design and engineering expertise of several renowned national and international firms. Moreover, this new roof is a major step towards restoring the building’s full functionality, while maintaining its distinctive character.

We can’t wait to start working with all of the teams involved on this project, and to play our part in making the stadium shine for the next 50 years!
