Honours for transforming traditional library model

Our Bishop’s University Learning Commons project has just won the Prix Architecture de bibliothèques et de centres d’archives du Québec 2019.

Completed just over a year ago, the new learning space quickly found its place at the centre of university life. The transformed building has become a hub of activity where students, professors, staff and the community benefit from the various services offered.

This project to transform the former John Bassett Library has created a new space that transforms the traditional library model into a centre for knowledge and collaboration. The educational destination promotes learning through exchange as guided by thorough consultation and reflection on the subject.

In developing the concept, our team took into account the needs of users – students, professors, librarians, administrators and university alumni – from the beginning of the project to the end, to create a newly bright and welcoming space that encourages research and knowledge transfer.
