A modern twist on formal design standards to foster team spirit and customer relations
The interior design of MNP’s Vancouver office provided an opportunity to optimize and modernize the workspace design standards of this leading Canadian accounting firm. Wherever possible, individual office spaces were designed to include two walls of glass to maximize the influx of natural light. This results in an overall space that feels much larger and more open as employees walk through it. To make the workspace more engaging, a carefully selected palette of finishes was established and adapted to achieve a perfect equilibrium between modern and classic aesthetics.
Numerous design elements have been introduced to promote team spirit. For instance, a substantially sized bistro was designed into the space, with specific amenities that are not available on other floors. The design intent is to encourage people who don’t interact on a day-to-day basis to gather and mingle, and to foster a sense of community within the larger team. Additionally, an operable wall between the bistro and an adjacent training room can be opened to create a larger gathering space for events and parties.
The office also includes a space for meetings and small gatherings with clients, in a laid-back, informal setting. This room feels distinctly different from the adjacent meeting areas, exuding a more elevated sense of hospitality. The casual chic atmosphere was created through the selection of refined finishes, as well as darker shades of walls and floors, while incorporating numerous wood tones to ensure a cozy and welcoming feel. Custom-designed millwork and increased height ceilings also helped create the proper mood for this space, while setting it apart from the rest of the office.
Selected brand elements are strategically incorporated into the design concept. A black feature wall behind the organization’s signage, and a blue wall behind the client refresh area are two key elements that were included in the design and that will be applied in upcoming MNP offices to maintain a consistent brand language throughout the firm’s portfolio.
