A pavilion that renews the welcome of a priceless site, in the running for the CPRQ People's Choice Award.
The Marcel-Lalonde Pavilion, designed to restore the full splendour of the welcome at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, is in the running for the People’s Choice Award at the Awards of Excellence of the Conseil du patrimoine religieux du Québec. This award recognizes projects that demonstrate commitment and innovation in the restoration, reuse, or enhancement of religious heritage, a mission at the heart of the Conseil’s work. The Conseil is a non-profit organization that acts as a leader in the sustainable reuse of this heritage.
Submitted in the enhancement category, the pavilion shows that a contemporary architectural intervention can enrich a major historic ensemble without overshadowing it. By rethinking the welcome and the ascent route, it transforms the visitor experience and renews the invitation to discover a site of priceless value.
Voting for the People’s Choice Award is open until August 30, 2026.
