This is one of the questions explored by this recently published study co-authored by Julia Pascutto from Lemay, Cheryl Wright from the University of Kansas and Michael C. Ralph and Rebecca Pedrosa Martínez of Multistudio.

Encompassing two studies made in a collaboration between undergraduates and design firm employees, the study takes a deep dive into the influence of gendered messaging in classroom designs on users and design industry professionals and reveals strong, contrasting correlations between perceptions of femininity and sense of belonging for both groups.

Congratulations on everyone involved in this work, which contributes to design and create more inclusive spaces.
