In the journey toward more sustainable and resilient built environments, we have pledged to take on the Government of Canada’s Net Zero Challenge, our commitments qualifying us for its Gold level. This initiative invites businesses to develop and implement credible and effective transition plans so that their facilities and operations become net zero by 2050. An objective that reflects our values and brings us together.
“Our vision is clear: design is a powerful lever for social and environmental transformation. Our creative expertise drives us to design spaces that not only meet present needs but anticipate and adapt to those of tomorrow.”—Louis T. Lemay
This commitment builds on our NET POSITIVE™ approach, which fosters resilience at the neighbourhood, building, and interior scales, guiding us across all our projects. Since 40% of global carbon emissions stem from the built environment, creating a resilient future inevitably involves architects, engineers, and real estate owners.
Our commitments under the Challenge:
- Maintain our net zero target by 2050
- Update our comprehensive net zero plan yearly
- Set interim emission reduction targets
- Report on our progress annually
A Structuring Framework
The Net Zero Challenge offers a rigorous and credible technical framework, designed in Canada, which also provides access to a community of practice for exchanging ideas to advance standards and generate new innovations.
This initiative represents an important opportunity for organizations looking to engage in decarbonization with a proven framework.
