How can an inclusive approach to design correspond to a more equitable built environment for women?
That’s the question design principal and landscape architect Patricia Lussier will be discussing at the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects’ 2022 Congress on November 24.
In a talk entitled Inclusionary landscapes: honouring women in the public realm, Patricia will be addressing heightened awareness and action in inclusionary designs that recognize and celebrate underrepresented groups in public space.
As the public realm plays an integral role in creating environments that are welcoming to all, responsibility falls on professions like landscape architecture to address a new paradigm. Decoupling public space from a longstanding dedication to men, design can take new approaches to public space that offer more narratives of gender equality.
