In an interview with Architizer, Andrew King, Senior Partner and Chief Design Officer at Lemay, discusses Place des Montréalaises and what the project represents—for the city, its people, and the teams that designed it.

The transdisciplinary project combines the work of Andrew’s team in architecture, Patricia Lussier’s team in landscape design and Angela Silver’s collaboration in art in what Andrew calls a “restorative project that breaks away from a city’s urban and commemorative histories and critically reframes them with vast inclusive public space.”

The interview delves into the inspiration for Place des Montréalaises, its context, and what tailored design strategies were applied.

In 2022, the project was awarded a Special Mention in the Unbuilt Masterplan category at the Architizer A+ Awards.
