High-fidelity vision of Réseau express métropolitain (REM) future stations
There’s something different about the latest 3D video renderings of future stations in Greater Montreal’s light-rail network.
For instance, this video put forward by the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) offers an unusually detailed vision of the Fairview–Pointe-Claire elevated station.
Exceptionally detailed building materials, vegetation and luminosity are the result of Lemay’s use of Unreal Engine, one of the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tools – from video game developer Epic Games!
The use of video-game technology in architecture is new and continuously evolving. It gives builders the freedom and control to deliver cutting-edge interactive experiences and immersive virtual worlds.
“At Lemay, we immediately saw the potential to provide the client (CDPQ Infra) and the public with a deeper understanding of the concept,” said architect Marc Choquette, Lemay associate and director, Major Projects.
“As they develop our projects, our people will gain greater insight by having such easy access to high-fidelity project visibility.”
With 67 km and 26 stations, the REM will link Montreal’s downtown core, south and north shores, West Island and international airport. The consortium of Lemay, Perkins + Will and Bisson Fortin is responsible for its architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and sustainable development.
