The Saint Joseph’s Oratory welcome pavilion has won the public vote at the AZ Awards in the Adaptive Re-Use category. Presented each year by Azure magazine, these awards rank among the most internationally recognized distinctions in architecture and design.

This recognition highlights an architecture that integrates sensitively into the topography of Mount Royal and into the heritage legacy of Saint Joseph’s Oratory. The pavilion redefines the site’s welcome experience: it creates a new point of entry, restructures visitor pathways and offers an architectural transition between the urban fabric and this destination of international scope. An intervention designed to be discreet, almost organic.

Awarded following a vote open to all, this prize reflects direct support from the public and confirms that the pavilion resonates well beyond the architecture and design community. This People’s Choice award also echoes a distinction received at the AZ Awards for the unbuilt version of the project in 2018.

Congratulations to the teams involved in this project, as well as to the winners across the various categories!
