We believe in design’s potential to accomplish great things, innovate, and create a better future for our cities. As such, we are thrilled to share that we are part of the team that has been shortlisted for Toronto’s Quayside Development Opportunity in consortium with lead architect, Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc. and lead developers, the Daniels Corporation and Hullmark Developments.
This high-profile future city proposal’s site includes a 12-acre parcel on Toronto’s waterfront. Our extended applied research for the site challenges ideas on how inclusive, experiential, and quality-driven a new interface with the waterfront can be. We are also building on the notions of the winter city, future city, and culture city as part of an immersive, curatable retail environment.
The vision for the project is to build a resilient community in every aspect by integrating notions of:
- Circular economy
- Community engagement
- Public awareness education
- Biodiversity
- Ecologically sound water management
- Net-zero carbon footprint
- Adaptability
- Inspiring living spaces
- Green growth
- Smart-city initiatives
The new waterfront concept encompasses a significant body of innovative design research that will merge sustainability, retail, culture and recreation to increase density and create the quintessential “live, work, play”.
Congratulations to our fellow firms who were shortlisted including Foster + Partners, MVRDV and Cobe, among others.
