Where architecture supports both collective experience and everyday use.
The Chambly Secondary School and the Saint Joseph’s Oratory Welcome Pavilion have been awarded a Prix d’excellence at the 2026 Awards and Distinctions ceremony, presented by the Ordre des architectes du Québec.
While distinct in program and scale, each project earned its recognition through a rigorous engagement with site, program, and community.
In Chambly, the expansion of the secondary school introduces a new building organized around a central commons: a shared space for gathering and learning. The project strengthens connections between interior and exterior environments, opening the campus to its surroundings and supporting a more flexible, community-oriented model for education.

At Saint Joseph’s Oratory, the welcome pavilion redefines arrival to one of the province’s most visited sites. Embedded within the mountain’s topography, the project integrates a new public square, a bell tower, and landscaped terraces to create a sequence that is accessible, contemplative, and rooted in the site’s heritage.

Together, these projects point to a consistent line of inquiry: how architecture can work with its context to support everyday use while shaping meaningful, shared experiences over time.
Congratulations to the project teams, collaborators, and everyone who contributed to bringing these two projects to life, as well as to all the other laureates of the evening.
