The McGill and Édouard-Montpetit stations of the Réseau Express Métropolitain have been selected among five finalists worldwide at the 2026 Architizer A+ Awards in the Transportation Interiors category and are now in the running for the Popular Choice Vote.
In parallel, Place des Montréalaises has received a Special Mention in the Public Parks & Green Spaces category, recognizing its contribution to the city’s evolving public realm.

Place des Montréalaises
From underground to the city surface
Located 72 metres beneath Mount Royal, Édouard-Montpetit is the deepest station in Canada. McGill anchors the network at the heart of downtown, connecting the REM to the Green Line and the historic Underground City.
Both are part of a 26-station, 67 km network developed in consortium with Perkins&Will and Bisson Fortin, reflecting a transdisciplinary approach to infrastructure design, balancing technical ambition with social and environmental considerations across the largest automated public transit system in North America.
